The string games we played the first day of class were reflecting the minor struggles that one has gone through during the writing process. In my case, the more I worked with the string, the better understanding I got for how the games work. I go through this same process while writing too. I rely on my foundation of writing, much like I rely on the foundation of the string to game to develop an intricate structure with the string. In writing, if I do not develop an appropriate structure, my writing as a whole will suffer. In my writing, the lack of structure often creates a sporadic piece of literature and usually does not properly address the topic.
As my writing progresses, things begin to fall in to place. This is like the point in which you begin to realize your end result for a string game. I begin to see where I need to expand on a topic or transition into a new paragraph. Once all of the minor details have been taken care of in a piece of literature, I now view the piece as a whole. This is similar to the final move made in a string game. As you release or grab the last string, you can visualize the final product.
I really like how you connected the string games with your writing process, it makes the two activities similar.

ReplyDeleteGreat job relating writing and string games. I agree with what you said about visualizing the final product when nearing the finish of a paper or string game. I also thought the Jimmy Johns menu in the background was very funny!
