This past wednesday, as you all know, we met with the Forest View High School kids.  Most of our conversation was about preparation for college.  Unfortunately I do not have a photo of the pictures we drew that represented what various parties thought college readiness is.  After viewing what other people had also drawn, I noticed most people depicted the textbook companies as money hungry and greedy.  As for the other parties, most of the ideas were similar however the textbook companies seem to stick out to me the most.

  1. I agree with your statements about the drawings that we had to do, most of the groups had a similar opinion about each thing on the list.

  2. I believe the textbook companies are greedy and hungry. They make several copies of textbooks needed for college and high school. The prices they put on 'em are outrageous. If a student could not afford to buy or even rent the textbook they need, then it is their fault rather than the textbook companies. that's mess up.

  3. JT, I agree with you that textbook companies are definitely money hungry. I thought that the drawings that each group did were really cool because we got to see what other people thought about college. It's cool to see how everybody has different opinions.

  4. Textbook companies are definitely all about money! And I agree with you and Tanner about how fun the drawing activity was. It was interesting seeing a high schoolers perspective on college.

  5. I really like this topic of exploring the advantages of learning something that is of high interest to you. I 100% agree with that because if you are learning something that interests you, you are more likely to learn more. Many people get bored if they are learning something that isn't of interest to them and they no longer want to learn. This is a really great topic and I'm glad that you are posting about something that interests you.
