We recently discussed popular media during our class time. We first analyzed the Star Wars hexalogy and the lack of the female hero. As our discussion developed, we began to discover other trends in the films such as the limit of robot's activity. In the movies, the droids were limited to either being a servant or soldier. This trend is also appearant in other movies involving robots. Typically the robots do not socially interact and usually form a rebellion. Off the top of my head, I could only think of two out of ten movies involving robots that do not follow this trend.

Great post! You seemed to enjoy the topic of Star Wars.
ReplyDeleteJT, it's awesome that you were so interested in the robots/droids in popular culture. I never watch movies that involve robots but after reading your post they seem interesting!
ReplyDeleteYou are so right! I cannot think of one movie where the robots are not rebelling against the human race: Terminator 1, 2, 3 and 4, I-robot, maybeee Transformers 1, 2 and 3.
ReplyDeleteI really liked your post. I can't relate too much with the Star Wars topic, but I think that it's a pretty common theme for human creations like robots to rebel against the creator. Even all the way back to Frankenstein.
ReplyDeleteCool post, everything you said was very interesting and makes me want to watch movies.
